In the landscapes of our homeland I stop, look and recognize the places where the battles were fought and the history of modern Greece was written.
Ordinary people, living in the mountains, in the villages, on the islands of this land, and others, expatriates, intellectuals, merchants, military men, all of them, for centuries now, are united and struggling, because they have nothing else
but "freedom and language".
We forget that only 200 years separate us from the revolution of 1821.
Perhaps because we come from a culture that makes us feel free even when we are under siege. (From the presentation on the back cover of the book)
